A Comment That Cut Me Deep (Free Email Course Incoming š)
Last week, I recorded a 35-minute video sharing an overview of my business.
(Thereās a link at the bottom of this page.)
Over 200 people downloaded it on social media. But as I scrolled through the replies I read something that cut me deep:
āRare sauce drops from Kieran himself š„ā
My ego riled up.
āWhat does he mean, rare?ā I thought to myself.
My mind flicked through the mass of free content I have produced since I started writing.
⢠Almost 1,000 emails
⢠8 free full-length video courses
⢠āA 8,000-word essayā
⢠Tonnes of small assets
āHow much more does he want?ā I mused.
Later that day, I was strolling along the beach near my mumās house when I realised his comment was lingering on my mind.
I began to think.
See, Iāve realised that whatever offends you is a signal.
Because we often defend our blind spots instead of exploring them. I reflected on why I was angry and stumbled into the truth:
I was offended not because he was wrong, but because he was right.
Sure, Iāve released a lot of free material. But over the past two years, most of my effort has been focused on paid offers.
Thereās nothing wrong with that (I used to think making money was evil, but it is a measure of value).
But I built my brand by giving away as much as I could.
And Iām a firm believer that this playbook is the most powerful āshortcutā for online success.
Because in an age of infinite noise, reputation is your most valuable asset.
I've realised that I feel most alive when I am:

1. Giving away my best ideas for free
2. Building my business in public
3. Sharing my doubts and fears
I used to ignore these signals because 'it's not the right way to build online'.
But in hindsight, these concepts have helpedā¦
Gurus say donāt give away information for free.
But trust is the aim of the game.
And ultimately, the writer with the strongest relationships wins.
Itās why Iāve started recording long-form YouTube content, which Iāll begin releasing soon.
But itās also why Iāve built a free 14-day email course.
Tomorrow, Iām celebrating my 4th year anniversary of quitting my 9-5.
It was the scariest, most important decision of my lifeāand the journey from dentist to writer has been a rollercoaster.
Iāve made many mistakes along the way.
But Iāve learned a thing or two since I started.
So I wrote 14 emails to past Kieranāsharing precisely what Iād do if I had to begin again today.
The email course is called The Business of Writing.
It starts on September 3rd (tomorrow, Iāll share the story of the day I quit my jobāitās a funny one).
Thereās no need to sign upāIāll send it automatically.
Just keep an eye out for an email beginning TBOW.
I hope you enjoy it,
Kieran
P.S.
If you missed the giveaway, I shared an overview of the Magnetic Writing Flywheel for a client.
You can watch it here:
Oh, and Iām also writing a book that deep-dives into this topic.
Books have changed my life and Iām excited to (hopefully) have the same impact.
I want to nail it, so it wonāt be out until next year. But you can join the waitlist here 670+ and get early access to a chapter for free.
